Partnering for Success

We work with partners globally to promote and fund innovation in four key program areas. Our technology program works to achieve the identification of forward looking innovative ideas in technology with the ultimate objective of delivering beneficial change in the way things are done and objectives achieved.  Our Renewable Energy program works to promote innovative and eco-friendly ways of generating power with capabilities to scale for mass market distribution. The Science program works to promote research in various segments of science intended to yield discoveries of new methods of resolving various science related problems including those in areas of agricultural and medical sciences. The education program works towards providing education in specific areas of interest.

Our approach to providing support in all the four (4) areas is results oriented and emphasizes collaboration, innovation and risk-taking.

How we work

In order for us to deliver the kinds of changes that will deliver meaningful efficiencies and beneficial improvements to society, we continuously seek to understand the problems being faced by society and more importantly, anticipate problems that are likely to emerge in the future. Through this approach, we encourage creative thinking amongst our partners with whom we collaborate to deliver the change we need. We listen and learn so we can identify pressing problems that do not get the required attention. Then we consider whether we can make a meaningful difference with our influence and our investments, whether it is a grant or a contract.

Our intention is to have all of our strategies being a result of this process of identifying what we want to accomplish for society and where we can have the greatest impact. Once we commit to an area of need, we define our major goals and identify a clear path to achieving them.

How we work with the field

We recognize the variations between the challenges we confront and engage to resolve. At the same time, we understand that these issues share the characteristics of being complex, dynamic and deep rooted. None will be solved easily and quickly, and none will be solved through our isolated efforts. In order for us to achieve the desired results, we engage in collaboration with grantees and other partners, who join with us in taking risks, pushing for new solutions, and harnessing the transformative power of science and technology. We strive to engage with our grantees and partners in a spirit of building relationships anchored on trust, candid communication and transparency.

How we develop Strategy

Prior to allocating resources and deploying investments, we develop goals and strategies. We continually collect and share data on our progress, reflect on lessons learned, and make corrections as needed. Essential to this process is ongoing dialogue with our beneficiaries, partners and other stakeholders.

Making Investments

Within each strategy, which has an allocation of resources, we collaborate with beneficiary and partner organizations to develop proposals that align with our strategic priorities and the organization’s focus and capabilities. An important part of this process is reaching agreement on what success will look like for the investment. We use a phased process in selecting initiatives to support and invest in.

How we structure our investments

We structure our investments in a way that makes sense from a financial perspective while also funding partners for the cost of delivering results, supported by open and honest dialogue about the resources required.

Results measurement and evaluation

At the beginning of the funding and investment process, we work with partners to define the overall results that we hope to achieve and the data needed to measure those results. In order that we give our partners flexibility in how they achieve results, we do not require them to report on all of their activities. Instead, we focus on purposefully measuring the most critical metrics of progress that support continued learning, adjustment, and alignment. However, the nature and frequency of measurement depends on the type of work. For example, scientific research projects may be measured differently than efforts to expand vaccine coverage. Evaluation is another collaborative learning tool that provides us and our partners with feedback so we can improve, adjust, and decide how best to achieve outcomes. We work to ensure that our partners have the capacity and support to generate quality evidence.

Get Involved

We work with partner organizations and entities to help solve global challenging problems. We encourage volunteers to come on board to provide various type of support.
